Not sure I understand what it is you are trying to accomplish. awakeFromNib is called when the nib is unarchived. You should not set the placeholderText in this method. Instead, set the placeholderText in viewDidLoad or in viewWillAppear:.

Is there a way to reload the placeholder after the view in which the modified textView is on disappears? The nib I have the KTTextView on is used multiple times. After it is used the first time the placeholder no longer appears. Does the awakeFromNib method only run the first time the nib is loaded?

Great post! Glad to hear I am not the only one that has felt the nightmare business arrangement. You made the right move my friend. It would of been a lot easier for them and you to have left it at the original verbal agreement in written form. When things get into the liability and control issues it gets way to complex and is truthfully not worth it to either side. There will always be "what if's", but the truth of the matter is that they would be able to promote something, to enhance their business, that they would not have otherwise had in the first place.

Andrew Kimpton makes a very good point on Twitter about the final sentence in the posting. "Take the money it would've cost and invest it in 'yourself' & your products, likely a more satisfying payback."

Kirby,

This is awesome. Seems like UNZIP is already available with iDOS, so you can skip the unzip program.
Ah, the days of writing Pascal code...

There is much to be concerned about with the new Mac App Store. Demos, upgrades, lack of direct customer contact, the broken user reviews system, and especially the submission guidelines.

But, if the iOS App Store is any indication of exposure to new customers, this could be a huge boon for small developers.

I worry that Apple doesn't understand the 3rd party Mac software ecosystem, but who knows maybe they have something. Either way, it clearly can't be ignored.

Interesting times indeed.

Kirby,

My finger-in-the-air analysis matches yours. I think the mixture of good enough (means ratings of 4+) and cheapest wins the most volume in the App Store. Thanks for sharing though and good luck getting the momentum back!
